Dimapur load shedding hours to be cut down

Load shedding hours in Dimapur would be reduced now as the power department Monday informed that the 132/66 KV, 10 MVA transformer brought from Mokokchung recently has been put in circuit.

In a statement, Dimapur electrical circle, superintendent engineer G. Chishi, however, said the transformer from Mokokchung was installed in place of the earlier 20 MVA transformer and it could not supply the same power like before.

Requesting the public to understand the problem, the department said load shedding would decrease but could not be “totally avoided”.

The department has also appealed to consumers using high power consuming equipments (air conditioners, induction cookers, electric rice cooker, microwave ovens, electric heaters etc.) to judiciously use power and switch off all lightings not required.
