Secheku Women Welfare Society (SWWS) celebrated its silver jubilee at Sumi Local Ground, Chizami Saturday under the banner “Beacons of Light” with president, Nagaland Women Voluntary Association, Kaisa Rio as chief guest.
Addressing the occasion, Kaisa urged upon the womenfolk to update themselves, stay alert and to march ahead while pointing out several issues confronting the society today.
She said in today’s age, education was the weapon and in this regard urged women folk to provide education to their children if they really loved them, while stating that other material possessions may fade but that education can never be taken away.
Further, she dwelt on family values and how it can contribute to the growth of a society. She called upon the gathering to renew their thoughts on the occasion and to also play their respective roles as individuals for the betterment of the society.
Indigenous song competition and handicraft show were also held as part of the celebration.
Chizami town was placed in the first position while Sumi and Porba village were adjudged second and Sakraba and Zhavame village third respectively.
Earlier, Aneilie Doulo, general secretary, SWWS chaired the programme while Rev. Fr. Deveraj, Parish priest and principal, SHHSS Chizami said the invocation prayer.
Greetings was delivered by Neikhwepe-u Khalo, president Chakhesang women welfare society.
An indigenous tune was also presented by Secheku women, Pfutsero.
The celebration was marked by traditional attires exhibition and fashion extravaganza featuring Rosou Rhi and Modovina Mocha.
