Chakhesangs declare Sept 30 as ‘Day of National Repentance’

Having made a “Covenant with God”, the Chakhesangs at the Chakhesang National Revival on September 30 resolved to observe September 30 every year as “Day of National Repentance” and mark this day with fasting, repentance, prayer and offering of thanksgiving in all Chakhesang inhabited places and Churches.

The revival programme was organized by Chakhesang Baptist Church Council from September 28-30 at Chozuba town. Around 8000 delegates representing all walks of life regardless of denominations\\\\hurch affiliations at the revival resolved to make the historic covenant under the theme: “Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalms:33:12).

The covenant adopted at the revival are as follows:
Covenant No. 1: Affirmation of Faith:  We affirm our faith and trust in Almighty God, our Jehovah and acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ over all creation and all the destinies of the nations.

Covenant No 2: On National Repentance and forgiveness: We acknowledge and confess the national sins of our people, the sins of our Ancestors, our forefathers and all the sins of the present generations ( Jeremiah 3:25).

Therefore, we pray and ask for the forgiveness for our  people.” Pardon the iniquity of this people, we pray, according to the greatness of  your mercy, Just  as you have forgiven  this people, from Egypt even until now” (Numbers 14:19). So  also we commit to forgive those who trespass against us, individually and corporately.( Matt 6:12)

Covenant  No. 3 : On  Blessed Nation & Mission Obligation: In reference to our  theme :.” Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” ( Ps 33:12) We praise God for the priviledge of being blessed as a nation .

Recognizing that God has blessed us as a nation , we  are eternally obliged and reaffirm ourselves  to fulfill the purpose of God (Gen:12:1-3) in being a blessing to other nations who are lost in darkness.

Covenant  No. 4:  Affirmation of unity& Integrity: We praise God and reaffirm our uniqueness of living together as “one people”  in unity under God and further commit ourselves to our God- given cultural roots of hardworking, honesty and integrity.

Covenant No. 5: Our prayers and supplications: a) In all humility and submissions, O Lord, Have mercy on us and heal our land and people; b) O Lord, have mercy on us and  favour us with your special blessings – The blessings of Peace, Unity, Love and obedience, The blessings of Long life, wisdom, good health, prosperity and success, The Blessings of spiritual and God-fearing leadership at all levels; c) We pray to the Lord of Harvest to raise and send out many missionaries  from amongst us  to reach the unreached around  the  world as a part of fulfilling the Great Commission of our Lord  Jesus Christ; d) We commit ourselves to the anointing power and leading of the Holy Spirit to pursue the efforts of spiritual awakening and revival in bringing about National repentance and deliverance.

The covenant was signed by leaders and representatives of various Churches including Chakhesang Bapitst Church Council, Chakhesang Public Organisatiion, Pentecostal Church, Assembly of God, Chakhesang Christian Revival Church and Chakhesang Catholic Church.
