Rotary club (RC) Kohima and Rotary club (RC) Mao organized a grand programme in honour of Rtn. Dr. Yogesh Verma Governor District 3240 who was the chief guest at a function held at Hotel Orchid, Mezhür HSS road, Kohima on Thursday evening.
Rtn. Dr. Neisatuo Mero, president R.C. Kohima, in his welcome address expressed gratitude to the district governor for his visit and said by joining international Rotary Club, people from different states and nation get the privilege to come together and know each other. He also welcomed the 6 new Rotary Club Kohima members to the programme.
Rtn. Dr. Yogesh Verma in his speech, lauded the RC Kohima and RC Mao for the commendable works done by them for the welfare of the people in promoting peace in the society. He encouraged them to look for an opportunity and move forward to help the needy and be agents of peace in the society.
He advised the Rotarians to make a strategy and concentrate on big projects which would provide maximum benefit to the general public, and said flagship projects and detailed project report was essential for the success of any project.
He said public relationship and tying up with the local authority was necessary in implementing any work. Rtn. Er. Sani Kaina secretary R.C. Mao in his brief report said in recent times, R.C. Mao conducted 4 medical camps where 1470 patients were given free medication.
He said the club has taken many watershed projects besides health camp and other activities. R.C. Mao has 23 members from different professions, the secretary said.
Rtn. Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu, Director community service, R.C. Kohima highlighted some of the contributions made for the welfare of the society which included visitation, repairing and offering gifts to the Kohima Orphanage, water management projects, heart to heart project for heart patients, smile project for cleft lips and palate patients, micro credit project, free polio vaccination camp, painting competition, donation of hearse for the Naga hospital, donated ambulance etc.
Chief guest inducted 6 new members of R.C. Kohima namely R. Naresh A.G. (audit), Jessie Liezietsu, Er. Keviletuo Yiese, Keneisede Yiese, Vekhosa and Sasietuonuo Vekhosa and altogether 37 members including the new members.
The souvenir of Rotary club Kohima “peace through service” was released by Rtn. Rosemary president elect and convener souvenir committee.
Earlier, Neikhrienyü pastor Baptist mission church proposed the invocation prayer, and the programme was chaired by Rtn. Dr. Neisatuo Mero president R.C. Kohima.
