As part of its annual project, Clark Centre for Peace Research and Action (CCPRA), Clark Theological College, Aolijen, Mokokchung organized a three-day regional level seminar on peace-building from November 22-24.
Around 35 active peace workers from different colleges and organizations from the northeast attended the seminar. Resource persons for the seminar were Dr. P.C. Gine, Prof. Lanu Ao, Rosemary Dzuvichu, Dr. Leban Serto and Dr. James Longkumer.
Resource persons took a different perspective on the theme issues, challenges and prospects of peace-building in north-east India.
The papers were read from Biblical, gender, socio-political and ethnic perspective.
Some of the major concerns addressed by the participants and the resource persons were the need for incorporating peace education on a formal as well as informal level, gender mainstreaming in peace initiative and the mandatory inclusion of women in peace processes for sustainable peace, church to become pro-active agents for peace-building, etc,.
The seminar ended on a common affirmation that peace seminars, workshops and consultations should be organized frequently in order to have dialogue among different individuals and groups who were committed to the task of peace-building.
