The long awaited dream of the six villages i.e. Nitoi, Nikiye, Kiyezhe, Thazuvi, Xuvishe and Yangsekyu village under Sitimi Area of Kiphire district finally came true with the inauguration of the PWD road at Nitoi village.
The road from Nitoi to PMGSY Road Thsingar via Nikiye, Kiyezhe, Thazuvi, Xuvishe and Yangsekyu village was inaugurated by Minister for PWD (R&B), G. Kaito Aye as the chief guest and MLA and Chairman NSMDC C. Kipili Sangtam as the guest of honour.
The chief guest was accompanied by Chief Engineer PWD (R&B), SDO(C) Seyochung, EAC Sitimi, Police officers and host of dignitaries from Kiphire district.
Lauding the six villages for displaying unity, Kaito said development would come if there was peace and unity and asked the gathering to show love irrespective of tribes.
Kaito also said in order to bring development in the area, the people should chose a good leader and envision the future in a positive way Extending his love to the people of Kiphire district, the chief guest said Nagas must think for the future and not go only after easy life.
The chief guest also appealed to the land owners to extend cooperation and maintain the road.
C. Kipili Sangtam, who was the chief guest, asked the gathering to start thinking about tomorrow today.
Stating every decision lies in the hands of the public, he requested the gathering to choose the right leaders where they will do the most good and produce change. Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) who also delivered a short speech said road transportation was important to boost the economy of a village and urged the gathering to extend cooperation to the government for the society to advance.
Other who spoke at the programme were Vikiho Hd. GB Nitoi Village, Hopongkyu Sangtam GB Yangsekyu Village, Tokugha Hd. GB Thazuvi Village and Sahoto GB Kiyezhe Village.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Yemishe GB Nitoi village and vote of thanks by S.Kakuto Chophy Xuvishe Village.
Other highlights of the day were folk song and dance by Women Group Yangsekyu Village, Thazuvi, Xuvishe, Kiyezhe and Nikiye village. The programme was chaired by Lithricho Sangtam.
