Sechü Zubza village observed its 28th foundation day on December 29 at the Village Council hall with Neilhoukhotuo Kielienyü, District Project Officer, Mokokchung, as chief guest.
In his address, the chief guest urged for oneness and unity amongst the villagers.
He said unity will bring development and stressed on the need to come together so that the village will surge ahead.
With Sechü Zubza located at the stretch of National Highway 29, Kielienyü urged the villagers to take up the challenge to set standards for others to emulate.
To this, he underlined the need for proper sanitation and regular cleanliness drive. “This is one area where others will get to learn from us as they pass through the village,” he said, adding, that the desired initiative is achievable if the villagers have the will to make it happen.
He also encouraged the village council and all the respective organizations under it to initiate immediate plans to keep the village neat and clean, also keeping in mind that many educational institutions and organization centers are mushrooming with each passing year.
“Today’s developmental activities become wastage of funds tomorrow if not planned properly,” he said and said the village leaders would have to play an important role in its progress.
Foreseeing that Sechü Zubza has scope for major developmental activities to take place, mainly for its location and also being the sub-divisional centre of the western Angamis, he advised the villagers to cooperate with the government in any undertakings.
Exhorting the gathering, village council, chairman, Neikuo Sechü also stressed on unity and oneness. He said the village (Sechü Zubza) comprises of people coming from different corners of Nagaland, mostly western Angami villages and cautioned that disunity among the villagers will be a huge detrimental force in separating its people.
“So let true sense of brotherhood prevail in us as we strive to live as one. And unity should be our greatest weapon,” he added.
Earlier, invocation was said by Khriengulie Kuotsu, pastor, Sechü Zubza Baptist Church, welcome address by Rüüngutuo Sechü, advisor, Sechü Zubza Day Committee and a song by Sechü Zubza Baptist Youth Department.
The programme was chaired by Khunyü Rino, Sechü Zubza Day Committee, chairman.
Folk song competition and grand feast also marked the occasion.
The programme was attended by Sechü Zubza villagers from all walks of life and in-laws from far and near. Mention may be made that Sechü Zubza Day is observed once in every three years.
