Cong objects transfer, posting of medical officers

Congress party has raised serious objections to the recent transfer and posting of medial officers by the state government on January 11.

In a representation submitted to the state governor Nikhil Kumar, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee president and MLA S.I Jamir stated that there has been “mass transfer and posting” of 60 medical officers by the NPF led DAN government and alleged that the party was doing the same for “personal vote bank.”

S.I Jamir argued that since the medical doctors were not covered under the Model Code of Conduct, the Congress party strongly opposed the “illegal transfer and postings.

The NPCC president has also urged the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to immediately revoke the order failing which the Congress would be forced to take action to express “discontentment.”

A copy of the representation has also been forwarded to the CEO, Nagaland.

It may be mentioned that the January 11 transfer and posting order of the government medical officers from the directorate of health & family welfare, civil hospitals of all the districts including Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima, TB hospitals and community/public health centres.

In another order dated January 19, the department of personnel and administrative reforms (personnel ‘A’ branch) has ordered the transfer and posting of IAS/NCS officers with immediate effect.

A government notification date January 19 issued by chief secretary Alemtemshi Jamir has ordered the transfer and posting of 31 IAS/NCS officers.

Nagaland-Manipur highway cleared

KOHIMA, JAN 20 (NPN): Nagaland-Manipur highway in Jakhama area where many vehicles were stranded in the last few days was opened around Sunday noon.

Police sources said the stranded vehicles and commuters could now pass the highway. It may be mentioned that a youth was killed and another injured in a hit and run incident on January 15 at Jakhama following which tension prevailed in the area. (Correspondent)
