Former Nagaland Assembly speaker and adviser to chief minister Neiphiu Rio, Zhovehu Lohe has dismissed a news item that appeared on this daily Sunday that he would be contesting as an “independent candidate” in the ensuing poll from 17 Chizami A/C.
Clarifying his decision to enter the fray here Sunday, Zhovehu told NEPS that on Thursday he publicly announced contesting on an NPF ticket, for which he had already applied.
“I had never mentioned before or after the Press Conference nor even during the Press Conference that I would be contesting as an Independent Candidate from 17 Chizami Constituency,” Lohe said. He has also termed the report as “politically motivated.”
