Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has appealed to all sections of Naga society and voters to elect its representatives through free and fair poll.
In a statement issued by ENSF general secretary Honang M. Jessuhu, the federation appealed to all Naga women’s organizations to continue its campaign for controlling the excess flows of liquor and intoxicants within their respective zones during the elections besides curbing anti-social forces for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.
ENSF also appealed to “national workers” to restrain from any creating any untoward situation during the polls and looked forward to see all working towards peaceful environment so as to help the people choose the right candidate.
While stating that universal adult franchise endorsed by the Constitutions of India should be strictly adhered to, ENSF appealed to all voters not to indulge in any forms corruption and to cooperate with the government in conducting free and fair election.
The federation said any individual or group if found restricting/violating rights guaranteed by the constitution should be punished as per the law of the land and it expected the law enforcing authority to implement strict election code of conduct.
ENSF appealed all intending candidates and party workers to guide voters “in light and truth.” Concerned with the use of “force and money”, ENSF further urged all party workers to refrain from stationing political youth camp so as to avoid unpredictable and disruptive act or situation.
The federation also all district administrations and law enforcing agencies to keep strict vigil so that disturbances were kept under control.
ENSF expressed its readiness to extend cooperation to the district administrations and law enforcing authorities in fulfilling their duties efficiently. “The government servants assigned on election duty are expected to perform its duty efficiently without any bias or favoritism,” said NSF.
It also appealed the district administrations not to confiscate the vehicles of any ENSF officials and its federating unit president on “election duty.”
ENSF has directed its federating units and subordinates to create awareness in their jurisdiction for a free, fair and clean election stating that no individual/group should misuse the platform of the students’ organizations for political gain.
However, NSF said its members as a citizen, could exercise one’s franchise sincerely for the “visionary leader” in order to help constitute a strong government represented by the right person through fair and peaceful means.
While wishing all intending candidates the best, ENSF said no elected members (once in power) should “camouflage himself beneath the shield and act as an obstacle in the fight for social justice, development and equality.”
