One of the longest boundary disputes in Tening sub-division under Peren district between Nzauna Village and Lalong village has been “amicably” settled with the initiatives of Zeliangrong Baudi, Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (ZB-AMN) and Zeliangrong Baudi, Nagaland (ZBN).
According to ZBN general secretary Azeu Namcyn Hau, Zeliangrong Baudi joint delegation delivered the verdict on March 8 in Nsong after a threadbare discussion based on the political case records of former deputy commissioners of Naga Hills J.H Hutton and C.R Pawsey.
The judgment passed by ZB-AMN and ZBN stated that C.R Pawsey’s latest judgment stood valid for both the parties in dispute wherein the boundary line was Kisa Ngeuki till Kisa Hill-top.
The efforts to settle the dispute began by Nsong Area Frontal Organisation (NAFO) which sent a “good-will mission” some years back for an amicable solution to be arrived at between the two villages.
Paving way for the solution, an MoU was signed last year at Nsong Town Hall signed by ZB joint delegation and five representatives each from the village councils of Nzauna and Lalong.
An appeal was also made to the new DAN III government to look into the deplorable road conditions in the area besides filling the vacant post of Nsong EAC.
Meanwhile, ZBN also sought a clarification from Nagaland University (NU) over the recent controversy surrounding Environmental Studies (B.A) examination question no. 9. NU had set the question asking the students where Ntangki Forest was located with four options – Kohima, Dimapur, Phek and Wokha.
