Longsa golden jubilee meet held

In view of the forthcoming golden jubilee celebration of Longsa village catholic community, Wokha, to be held on December 14 and 15, the jubilee committee members along with the executive members and church council members held the final general meeting on April 20 at Longsa Catholic Church hall.

The meet reviewed the preparation of the golden jubilee celebration. In the meeting, various sub-committee roles and duties were reviewed by jubilee convener S. Emmanuel Ezung, SDO, PWD, Wokha, co-convener Renthungo Ezung, T.O, Zunheboto, and general secretary, Chonthungo Anthony Ezung, SI Mon.

Jubilee convener, S. Emmanuel Ezung, in his welcome address, thanked the various committee members for attending the meeting and also presented the current scenario of the preparation for the forth coming golden jubilee celebration.

S. Emmanuel while appreciating and thanking various donors and volunteers, also encouraged more donors to contribute for the forthcoming golden jubilee celebration, and at the same time, added that no donation drive in honour of golden jubilee would be encouraged.

A minute silence was observed in honour of Rev. Fr. Larea, SDB, the first catholic missionary and a pioneer to the Lotha area who passed away on April 17 at Shillong.

Rev. Fr. Rhanben Mathew, centre in-charge, Longsa Catholic Church, said that a retreat would be organized for the catholic community to prepare for the 50th year celebration.

T. Timothy Ezung, Catechist, Longsa Catholic Church, stressed on the need to centralize funds for the golden jubilee so that there was transparency while utilizing funds.

Finance committee chairman, Kimonthung Martin Ezung, gave a brief presentation on the expenditure and requirements and said that the expenditure should be controlled without effecting the overall arrangement of the golden jubilee celebration so that no unnecessary expenditures were incurred.

The committee members decided that the theme for the golden jubilee celebration would be “His mercy is everlasting” taken from the book of Psalms 100: 5.
