Need to modernize edn system in state: Zeliang

Minister for planning & coordination, evaluation and geology and mining T.R Zeliang Thursday emphasized on the need to modernize educational system in the state to cope up with the fast changing world.

Addressing the gathering during the inaugural function of the Barail Valley School building at Jalukie as chief guest the minister stated that class room learning alone could not be termed as complete education in the present context and urged upon teachers, students and school management to adopt a more practical and applicable system in line with the need of the present world.

T.R Zeliang also informed the gathering that as an education modernization process the state government has decided to provide computer sets to all the educational institutions in the state with the hope that it would help students and teachers to cope up the IT revolution.

T.R Zeliang said educational advancement was not measured by the number of degree holders but the by number of achievements made by the degree holders like doctors, engineers and other professionals.

He opined the Nagas needed to evolve a new system that would suit the present world and help people develop to through education.

Parliamentary secretary for rural development CL John also spoke on the occasion and compared between the Konyak and Zeliangrong tribes.

Unless education in the state was made more practical and vocation oriented, backwardness could not be removes he said and urged the teachers to impart quality education to the students.

MLA and chairman APMC, DC Peren and joint director school education also spoke during the programme.
