An individual claiming to be a doctor was arrested by Longleng police Friday after receiving complaints from public that he was offering medicines to patients, which were illegally made with the mixture of assorted drugs, at a very high rate.
According to police, the individual, who claimed himself as Dr. Puti Jamir, son of Nokden Jamir of Changtongya Yimsen, under Mokokchung district, was arrested from his house in the wee hours of May 24.
Sources said that the accused was a high school drop-out, who also deals in ready-made garments in Longleng.
Police report said they have seized large quantity of assorted medicines, identity cards of different professions, two seals of “Indian Red Cross Society” and pad of general secretary “Indian Red Cross Society”.
The police have registered a case against the accused under section P.S c/no.12/13 u/s. 419/420/465/468 of Indian Panel code.
O.C Longleng Police station has informed the public, victimized by Puti Jamir, to lodge a written complaint against him or one may contact the number- 8974799852 for information.
According to sources, another person identified as one Dr. Lepcha, son of late N.T. Lepcha, who runs a private pharmacy in Longleng town, has been taken in for questioning.
