Tenyimi Union Dimapur (TUD) general body meeting cum inauguration of Tenyimi complex gate was held on May 25 at Dimapur Golaghat road. The programme was graced by parliamentary secretary, urban development, Zhaleo Rio.
In his inaugural speech, Zhaleo, called upon Tenyimi’s representing the 10 tribes to unite and work together for the welfare and to foster brotherhood among the Tenyimis and also with other Naga tribes living in the district.
He further appealed to the Tenyimi leaders, parents and the upcoming new generation to preserve the rich traditions, culture and Tenyidie language since it was the true identity of the Tenyimi.
He asked leaders and parents to teach Tenyidie to their children so as to have oneness among the different Tenyimi communities and further emphasized the importance of the Tenyidie language since the language was already recognized by the University Grant Commission (UGC).
“Dimapur is a mini Nagaland and also the gateway of Nagaland where every Naga tribes and Non-Nagas are living together,” he said and at the same time added that to have a peaceful co-existence and for brighter future among the Nagas, tribalism should be avoided at all cost and appealed Tenyimi community to unite and work together for the good of all communities living in Dimapur by doing away with tribalism.
Er. Levi Rengma, MLA, in his exhortation speech appealed Tenyimi community to preserved the rich culture, tradition and values like honesty, hospitality, hard working inherited from the forefathers.
Also exhorting the gathering retired secretary, Vihelie Sekhose, expressed gratitude and appreciation to Zhaleo Rio for being the only Tenyimi legislator representing Dimapur district. Earlier, the invocation was pronounced by Rev. Dr. Weyiete Kapfo.
