10th foundation day celebratory programme of Operation Salvage Rehabilitation Centre, Heningkunglwa, Peren, was held on June 7 with active participation from the centre’s staff and clients, elders of nearby villages, well-wishers, family members of the clients, former clients and recovering members, all former directors of the centre and its founder.
The founder of the centre, David Lungalang, former directors of the centre, Joyson; Alan and Roko Kintso, enlightened the gathering about the objective of the centre and the many hardships and mishaps they had to undergo and undertake in order to steer the centre to its present state.
While advising the staff to never let go of the centre’s noble endeavour and objective, they also encouraged the clients to let go of their past and focus, with specific plans, on a productive and beneficial future so that not only their family but the society could also benefit from their experience and contributions.
The chairman of Heningkunglwa village and ex-pastor, Punglwa village exhorted the clients to be sincere and continue with renewed vigor in their quest for clean and sober lives.
Parents of the clients also expressed gratitude towards the centre for rehabilitation of their wards and further implored the clients to become better citizens and lead productive lives in the days to come.
It may be mentioned that Operation Salvage was established in June 7, 2003 as a rehabilitation centre for drug and alcohol dependents managed and run by the NSCN (I-M).
The centre while being managed by the NSCN (IM), boasts mostly of civilian staff and counsellors, both from secular and theological fields.
The clients’ places of domicile vary from faraway places and towns to the nearby villages and are of different cultures and religious denominations and affiliations.
