Following the allegation made in a table provided by Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) that the excise department was taxing Rs. 100 per truck load of cement, commissioner of excise Maongwati Aier Monday requested ACAUT to provide names and evidence of erring excise personnel so that disciplinary action could be initiated against them.
In a press release, Maongwati reminded that he had issued several orders in the past that no taxation whatsoever would be made at any of the excise check posts.
He therefore asked ACAUT to provide names and evidence so that the excise department could initiate action against the personnel involved leading to suspension/dismissal if they were found guilty.
