Chumou Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) created history by winning the first Altrura football tournament after defeating Chakhro Sports Assosation (CSA) 4-2 in a tie-breaker after both teams scored two goals each in an exciting final encounter.
The tournament, organized by Altrura society under the theme “Unity through sports” concluded Sunday with Lhousito Khro, political advisor to parliamentary secretary for urban development and NPF youth wing general secretary as the guest of honor in the closing ceremony held at Thenyiphe-I local ground 6th mile Chumukedima.
The champion team received cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with a trophy while the runner-up team bagged Rs 30,000 with a trophy. Medziphema Village Youth Organization (MVYO) was awarded the best discipline team with Rs 5, 000 cash.
Meanwhile an amount of Rs 2000 each with trophies was given to the individual winners, Saphrulie (CTYO) as best goal keeper, Mhasileto (SB) as best defender, Shurhosul (CSA) as highest scorer with a total of 8 goals and Kevikoza (MTYO) as player of the tournament.
Altogether, 10 teams participated and 17 matches were played in which a total of 79 goals were scored at the rate of 4.64 goals per match.
The tournament was conducted by Medziphema Area Football Referee Association (MAFRA) from July 6-13.
Meanwhile, the closing ceremony was chaired by Neibi Nagi treasure (AS) and blessing invoked by Zasikholie Meyase pastor Thenyiphe I Baptist Church.
