With the objective of lending voice to Naga business persons for transforming Dimapur into a vibrant place, an independent body of the Naga business community under the nomenclature– Naga Business Owner’s Association of Dimapur District (NBOADD) was launched Wednesday at Naga Council Unity Hall, Dimapur.
The move to form NBOADD was mooted on July 9 by the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) after deliberating on the need for such an organization for safe guarding the well being of Naga business community.
Exhorting those present at the meeting, president, Naga Council Dimapur, T. Bangerloba Ao, reminded that Nagas had been fighting for economic rights for so long and the coming together of Naga business persons was the need of the hour.
Bangerloba hoped the body would also provide a platform to hear views and express grievances.
Speaking on the topic “Role of Entrepreneurs for Developing Naga Economy”, associate professor, Dimapur Government College, Dr. M.L Ngullie, elucidated broadly on business leadership and other aspects of economic progress.
He lamented that Naga business persons had certain weakness especially attitudes such in –lack of consistency, unity, nationalism, statesmanship, patriotism, patience, salesmanship and awareness of social responsibilities and trying to become rich overnight by charging exorbitant price.
He also expressed concern on the immediate need for Nagas to fight against forces that propel unreasonable price rise -unreasonable taxations, exploiting fellow Naga entrepreneurs and consumers and inability to maintain healthy competition among businessmen.
On Wednesday, the Naga Business Owner’s Association of Dimapur District elected a team of office bearers with Thungbemo Murry as chairman, Kepel Keditsu and W. Khape as co-chairmen, Dr. Khekugha Muru as general secretary, Mar Longkumer as information and publicity secretary, Luther Anar as finance secretary, Akaho Chophy and Lalboi Wiza as joint secretaries, and Mongkum Jamir as treasurer.
