Personnel of 21 Assam Rifles, based on specific information, carried out a search operation in a safe house belonging to one Ilhoto Yeptho – suspected to be an over ground worker for NSCN (I-M) – and recovered three rifles along with a huge cache of ammunition and other warlike stores August 29.
In a press release PRO, IGAR (N) stated that Ilhoto Yeptho along with recovered arms and ammunition was handed over to Zunheboto police after lodging FIR.
PRO said Ilhoto Yeptho was later released on bail after NSCN (I-M) town commander at Zunheboto claimed the responsibility of forcefully hiding the weapons in the house.
29 AR nabs GPRN/NSCN cadre: Troops of 29 Assam Rifles apprehended one “lt.” Shkato Sumi of GPRN/NSCN along with one 7.65mm Pistol and ammunition from Blue Hill area Dimapur.
According to PRO, the cadre was a resident of Zunheboto and presently working for Dimapur Town Command of GPRN/NSCN. The apprehended cadre along with recovered weapon and ammunition were handed over to the East Police Station, Dimapur, PRO said.
