Nagaland director general of police (DGP) Besesayo Kezo Thursday stressed on the need of team work and good relation with other departments.
He said the success and failure of the police depended on team work and co-relationship while addressing the police officers during the function of “Zero case pendency day” of DEF Kohima held at Superintendent of Police Kohima conference hall.
While congratulating the District Executive Force (DEF) Kohima, he also pointed out and challenged as to how to deal with underground cases.
He also lauded the department for improvement in pro-active policing especially in Dimapur and Kohima districts. He urged the policemen to come out of their comfort zone and help the public.
Public prosecutor Kohima Kathu Rengma in his address urged the officers not to compromise the quality of investigation in criminal cases while discharging their duties.
He said the evidence of any case should be congenial and submit the report within the prescribe course.
He suggested the department to set up separate investigative wing, to appoint one officer at the rank of IG to head the department and to set up forensic science laboratory in the state.
IGP (R) P.F. Zeliang in his address said zero case pendency programme was unique and came across for the first time in his 30 years of service.
However, he cautioned that one should not deal cases haphazardly to dispose off quickly without quality of investigation.
The deputy dommissioner while congratulating Kohima SP and his team for the commendable jobs done emphasized on the need of building up relationship between administration and police.
The function was chaired by addl. SP Kohima M.Rhovisie Nyuwi NPS. DGP gave away the prizes to ASI Chiwasie Nyusou south traffic for most cases disposed and UBSI Imsütoshi south PS for most sensitive case disposed.
Crime statement Jan 1, 2010 to Jun 30, 2013: As per the report of S Police Kohima, total number of caes registered in Kohima was 832 between January 1, 2010 and June 30, 2013.
Final reports presented were 250 while those convicted include 292 and those acquitted were 50. Total persons arrested during the same period were 872.
Those undergoing trial were 317. The number of persons convicted was 388 and persons acquitted -167. Total numbers of vehicles registered lost in 2010 were 52, out of which 22 were recovered.
In 2011, 43 vehicles were lost, out of which 20 was recovered. In 2012, 46 vehicles were registered lost but 32 were recovered. 19 vehicles were reported lost in 2013 or which 7 were recovered.
