Heeding to the call of Pope Francis for a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, in the entire Mideast region, and throughout the world on September 7 from 7 p.m. until midnight, the Catholic Church in Nagaland will be joining the rest of the Catholic world in praying for peace in the region.
Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of the Diocese of Kohima has invited all Catholic faithful to observe the day in a fitting manner.
A press release issued by the Diocese of Kohima, stated that the day will be spent in prayer, in a spirit of penitence to ask from God the great gift of peace for Syria and for all the situation of conflicts and violence in the world. Bishop has also invited non-Catholic Christians and non-Christian believers to participate in the “way they feel appropriate”.
