NPF-led DAN has out rightly rejected the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) demand for President’s Rule (PR) in the state and has termed the demand as “undemocratic and illogical.”
In a statement, NPF press and media bureau has accused the NPCC of resorting to its old formula of making noise in the form of baseless allegations and making unreasonable demands as it continued to remain cut off from the grass roots.
Responding to NPCC statement, NPF said NPCC has once again exposes its political stand and the party’s dependence on its high command.
NPF said the NPCC’s call for president’s rule also vindicated what the former has been saying all along that Congress leaders in the state have become “agents of outsiders” against the Naga people.
“Their only hope now is to rule the State through their high command by hoping to impose president’s rule against the will of the people and against the spirit of democracy,” said NPF and maintained that the Congress culture was alien to Naga culture, as opposed to NPF for whom the people were the real high command.
NPF said the overall situation in the state was being constantly monitored with appropriate actions whenever needed. The party said NPF-led DAN government was running with the “active and positive” cooperation of the people through civil societies and mass based organisations.
With regard to matters of grave concern and policy, the government has always taken the views of the people through consultations and deliberations, said NPF and dismissed the Congress allegation that the government was avoiding its responsibility by “outsourcing law and order.”
NPF also reminded that that salaries of teachers were being paid without any delay but salaries which were directly funded through Central programmes have been delayed since the government was awaiting sanction from the government of India.
With regard to issues related to GHSS Mon, NPF said contingency arrangements have been put in place in order to ensure that the normal schedule of students were not disturbed and the academic session was being carried out in a smooth manner.
NPF further added that NPCC seemed to be making noise without getting its facts right as all its allegations were “empty and do not hold any water.” In the face of political desperation, NPCC has found no option but to scamper to its high command with folded hands, said NPF.
It may be mentioned that NPCC president S.I Jamir had said his party was compelled to demand President’s rule in Nagaland because of “breakdown in law and order machinery and widespread corruption” and failures on several fronts by the NPF-led DAN government.
While raising the question: “who is running the government?”, Jamir accused the NPF-led DAN government of being “all rhetoric and no substance.”
He alleged that “the conspiratorial silence” of the DAN government “in the face of people’s revolt against unabated and illegal taxations, including the Petroleum Dealers Association (PDA) sudden strike” should be countered with equal measure and that only President’s rule “should satisfy the hapless Naga people”.
