Zhaleo Rio graces SASRD foundation day; freshers’ social

Annual Fresher’s Social cum 19th Nagaland University Foundation day of School of Agriculture Science and Rural Development (SASRD) Medziphema, was held on Friday at its university Auditorium.

Speaking at the function as chief guest parliamentary secretary for urban development, Nagaland, Zhaleo Rio said that Nagaland is pre-dominantly an agricultural state and most of the people depended on agriculture for livelihood.

He said agriculture has become main sector for livelihood. “Our people are cultivators” not farmer he added. 

The parliamentary secretary also urged the local people particularly the landowners to extend assistance to SASRD management in its endeavour and for ushering in peace and tranquility. He encouraged the students and asked them to have “vision and dream” while pursuing studies and achieving goals.

“If you lose your character, your value, you are a half person” Zheleo said and advised the students never to lose their own cultural values.

During the function, invocation prayer was led by Dr. I.T. Asangla, associate professor of Entomology; Welcome address by Prof. L. Daiho, student welfare in-charge, exhortation by Pro. N.S. Jamir, pro vice chancellor; foundation day speech delivered by Prof. Aleminla Ao, dean; presidential address by Rovizelhou Kuotsu, president students’ union; speech on behalf of freshers by Thipuzo Kezo and vote of thanks delivered by Temjenmenba, vice president, NUNTSA, NU-SASRD.
