After issuing a directive to the state Police Headquarters (PHQ), to withdraw all security vehicle-escorts and police personnel attached with the ministers, parliamentary secretaries, MLAs and VIPs when in station; Nagaland home minister G. Kaito Aye Friday suggested that all new vehicles acquired by the department be given directly to police stations for use in maintaining law and order in the state.
The home minister reportedly gave the instruction during a high level meeting attended by SPs, unit commandants and senior police officers at the PHQ conference hall, Kohima.
Sources informed Nagaland Post that the minister also spoke for allotment of quarters to lower rank police personnel in all the districts and accommodation facility for at least one IR company in each headquarter.
It was also informed that the home minister proposed a rotation in the posting of officers by which, officers who have served in Kohima and Dimapur, should also serve in far flung areas.
The minister had reiterated on proper “implementation” of the directive issued to the PHQ on withdrawal of VIP escorts.
Further the sources added that the home minister sought help and cooperation from all the unit commanders to make the home department the most effective department.
It may be mentioned that Kaito withdrew two escorts and police personnel assigned to him last week before issuing the directive to the PHQ to withdraw all security vehicle-escorts and police personnel attached with the ministers, parliamentary secretaries, MLAs and VIPs when in station so as to utilize more police forces for maintaining law and order in the state.
