The Delhi gang rape case has affected Anoushka Shankar so much that she actually remembers her horrific past when she was sexually abused as a child.
The 32-year-old musician told BBC Radio 4 that no one she knew could help being affected by the gravity and intensity of that attack, and if it reflects with personal experiences then the impact of the story doubles.
Shankar said that she felt quite conscious as an Indian woman that there was a very unique moment happening in the country and all the attention was on the role and position of women in India.
She said that what shocked the nation was that the victim was a middle-class girl. Shankar had earlier revealed that she was sexually abused as a child by a man whom her parents trusted.
