This was informed by the state home minister on Monday while briefing few media persons at his office chamber.
It may be recalled that the state government in pursuance of Supreme Court’s directive, had constituted the SSC comprising of home minister G. The function of SSC include laying down broad policy guidelines and directions for the performance of preventive tasks and service oriented functions by the police; annual evaluation of state police’s performance and presentation of a report to the state legislators; functioning as a forum of appeal for disposing of representations from police officers regarding promotion to SP and above; and general review of the functioning of the police.
SSC would also ensure that no unwarranted influence or pressure was exercised on the state police and would lay down board policy guidelines to ensure that the state police act according to the laws of the land and the Constitution of the country.
