Organisations condemn October 14 rape

NMA: Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has vehemently condemned the rape of a Mao woman by Adani Chithuyio, an alleged cadre of NSCN (I-M ) October 14 in Dimapur. 

Stating that such “savage act” and crime committed against women cannot be tolerated, NMA said it was dismay on the arrogance shown by A. Puni, a responsible leader, to the victim and relatives, which showed he did not have a sense of humanity.

“We expect co-operation from the leader to take stern disciplinary action for committing such wicked and shameful crime by his cadre, to uphold dignity,” NMA stated.

The association also strongly demanded responsible political organization authority to award punitive action and not to protect criminals, which should serve as an example for future references.

RWS: Rabunamei women society (RWS) has condemned rape of its member October 14 by one Adani Chithuyio, allegedly an NSCN (I-M) cadre, which took place at forested area near Viola colony, Dimapur.

In a press release, Chairperson Kh. Boni and secretary N. Lophro said the victim luckily survived though the perpetrator left her assuming dead.

They also regretted for denying the victim and her family members when approached for timely intervention to the NSCN (I-M).

RWS appealed to all right thinking citizens to condemn the inhuman act. It also urged the law enforcing agencies to award befitting punishment to the culprit as per the law of the land.

RVC: Rabunamei village council (RVC) condemned the act of kidnapping, attempt to murder and rape of a girl of Rabunamei village by Adani Chiithuyio, an alleged cadre of NSCN (I-M).
In a press release, RVC questioned the credibility of the person who claimed to be “a custodian of Naga Nation”.

RVC also condemned Ashikho Adani, who claimed to be the chairman of Viola Colony, for denying the plight of the victim when approached by the victim and her family members. RVC demanded that culprit be awarded befitting action as per the provision of the land. 

RYSO: Rabunamei Youth and Students’ Organization (RYSO) expressing shock over the October rape incident denounced the act of Adani Chiithuyio. Condemning, what it described “devilish act”, the organization urged the law enforcing agencies to award befitting punishment to the culprit. It also warned that any individual/group who attempt to bail out the accused would be doing so at his/own risk.

TSUD: Strongly condemning the brutal rape of a Mao woman and allegedly threatening to kill her by Chiithuyio on October 14, the Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD) said it shocked that the “national protector who work for the nation is involving in inhuman act which is totally against the law and societies.” In a press release, TSUD president Jenpu Rongmei and information & publicity secretary Chokho Robviina stated that the union salutes the victim, who stood firm with courage to identify the victim and fight for her rights.

TSUD appeal to the police authority and district administration not to grant bail and put award punishment according to the law.  Stating that it stood beside the victim and her families at this hour, TSUD said it would fight till justice deliver. 

TSUD prayed God grant her courage and wished her speedy recovery. It also appealed to all the student organizations to come forward and “condemn such heinous and ugly act.”
