Body recovered; one suspect held

Body of a taxi driver identified as Janul Hussain (28), son of Abdul Houque of Kurikhala village, Assam was recovered between Jakhama and Viswema below the road, near a bridge by police Thursday morning around 7.30 a.m. The body was later handed over to the Muslim community after completion of formalities.

According to information made available to police, the victim who was driving a zonal taxi (NL01-T-8254) was forcibly taken towards Khuzama around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police said out of the four suspects, two have been identified as Tepusuto Sophie and Menyungol Tase of Jakhama Village who were working for DEF Kohima and said disciplinary action would be initiated against the duo if found guilty.

Police have already arrested Tepusuto while the other three suspects – Menyungol Tase, Puzoto Tetso and Kehusol Tetso all from Jakhama village were still absconding.

SP Kohima expressed confidence that the three would also be arrested soon since Jakhama villagers and the community were giving full support and cooperation to the law enforcing agencies and informed said the taxi was recovered with the help of the villagers.
