District Tobacco Control Cell Dimapur (DTCCD) conducted anti-tobacco awareness campaign during the 12th biennial general conference of Diphupar Naga Students’ union on October 26.
Dr. C Tetseo, district nodal officer, NTCP gave a power point presentation on the ill effects of tobacco.
Moanungsang, the first Naga Idol led the students in taking anti-tobacco pledge and also gave a powerful speech.
He shared a moving story about his father who nearly lost his life to tobacco. The awareness camp was attended by about 1000 students.
It may be mentioned that DTCCD led by Dr. C Tetseo have been visiting schools for awareness campaign in Dimapur for last two months.
More than 20 schools have been visited so far. Awareness camp was held in three schools in Diphupar B village last week and all the students were made to take anti-tobacco pledge.
The team also requested the school authorities to comply with the section 6 (b) of COTPA 2003. nder this section it is mandatory for all educational institutions to put up a signboard stating that sale of tobacco products is banned within 100 perimeter yards from the institution.
