State chief minister Neiphiu Rio graced the golden Jubilee celebration of Sheanghah Chingnyu Student’s Union (SCSU) December 18.
Speaking on the occasion, Rio said that through Christianity and education, the jubilee has witnessed light from darkness. He also thanked the community for electing Pohwang and assured of looking after the development of Sheanghah Chingnyu village.
On education, the chief minister reminded that in 1947 there were only 111 primary schools in the state. However, as per 2012 record, there were 2045 primary schools, reaching all the interior villages in the state, said Rio.
The chief minister urged the parents to send their children to school to learn and reminded them of the government has given special focus on the right to education act.
He also advised the parents and leaders of the village to know the quality of the child and teach him/her the best character and mould them, as education begins at home.
Stressing on work culture, he encouraged the gathering not to depend on others for their livelihood but rather work hard and contribute towards development for oneself and community.
Meanwhile, parliamentary secretary RD & REPA C.L John who graced the occasion as guest of honour said that there would not have been jubilee celebration had there been no peace. He too emphasized on work culture and urged upon the student community to work in order to achieve. He suggested the students to check all government establishments and institutions and enforce ‘no work no pay’. He also advised the people of the area to work together for development to prevail.
Earlier, the mini museum was inaugurated and jubilee monolith unveiled by the chief minister. Welcome speech was delivered by parliamentary secy. emergency, fire service, relief and rehabilitation Pohwang and later the exhibition stall was inaugurated by the guest of honour.
The chief minister was accompanied by E.E Pangteang, minister art and culture, tourism and election, Thongwang Chairman NKVIB and DPDB Mon, Angau I Thou D.C Mon, Nyemnyei Ex -Minister, Chingkai General Secy NPF Mon Division, Manlip President Konyak Union.
