Kohima Bar Association (KBA) has expressed dismay at the frequent transfer of judicial officers from Kohima district court. In a press release, KBA president Khriedi Theünuo said the issue was discussed at an emergency meeting held on December  17 at the Bar room.
KBA said members that the smooth functioning of the Kohima District court has been affected due to frequent transfer of judges from the District court during 2011 to 2013. Citing several instances, the bar members decided to apprise the matter to the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
KBA also said the newly transferred District & Session Judge of Kohima District Court was reportedly on leave after taking the charge.  During the leave period, the Judge has not given charge to any other judge in the District Court and as such, the litigants as well as the practicing lawyers are facing hardship, said KBA.  Taking the issue very seriously, KBA members adopted resolution to the effect that the matter too would be brought to the notice of the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, through the Registry Kohima Bench to immediately direct the Judge hand over charge to the judge of Family Court, Kohima.
