Nagaland minister for industries and commerce, S. Pangnyu Phom, formally commissioned the first ever video conferencing (VC) facility at the directorate of industries & commerce, here Tuesday.
Speaking at the commissioning programme as chief guest, Pangnyu said with the advancement of science and technology life and works have become easier and faster.
Sharing the benefits of video conferencing, minister said it could communicate more effectively, save time and money. He said video conferencing could help make decisions and works faster, reduce costs, increase quality of life for travelling personnel, shortening hiring cycles for key employee and it could conveys vast more information than emails or telephone calls.
Minister appealed to the department staff to take full advantage of video conferencing facility and make progress in their works.
NIC Kohima senior systems analyst Apao M. Rhezhu, in his short speech on technical aspect, congratulated the department for successfully installing the video conferencing. He said video conferencing used Wimax connectivity through IP base internet. He said there were four video conferencing base stations in the state, which includes police headquarters (PHQ), National informatics centre (NIC), school education and Assembly secretariat. He said using this facility could minimize the budget.
Industries and commerce director Er. Thekruneituo Kire, in brief speech, acknowledged NIC department for installing the facility in the directorate. He said with this facility one could talk face to face and save time and money. The function was chaired by I & C additional director Keneilel Angami while vote of thanks was proposed by joint director (tech) Er. Temsulong Jamir.
It may be mentioned that video conferencing facility has been installed in the office of the directorate of Industries and commerce and also the mission directorate (NMFP) with the assistance from the ministry of food processing industries (MoFPI) government of India and NIC Nagaland Kohima. The VC would make possible to attend all the video conferences convened by the ministry of food processing, ministry of textiles and other line ministries sitting at the directorate with the district officials. Government plans to install VC facility in other directorates in the state and all the district headquarters.
