Dist youth convention held in Mon

With the objective of building the potentialities of the youth in the district, a one-day district youth convention was held at NPF Hall, Mon February 15.
The Youth Convention brings together the members of youth clubs and enhances their capacity so as to work as effective youth leaders in their respective areas. 
In a press release, DYC, NYK, Mon John Makhabo stated that programme has cultural component in it to ensure that the youth carry forward the good traditional values and folklores. Around 111 youths attended the convention.
Speaking at the programme as chief guest, the district employment exchange officer Mon, Leiwang called upon the youth to excel in their academic fields. He asked them to compete with the “forward tribes.” The chief guest stated that in modern world there was cut throat competitions; the good ones were selected while those who could not excel had no place in job avenues. 
Further, he called the youth to put extra efforts, and change the mindset for their own advantage. The chief guest appreciated the efforts of the government of India through the instrumentalities Nehru Yuva kendra, Mon which offers avenues and opportunities for the youth of the nation.
Meren ACT NYK, Mon delivered key note address. He said NYKS, established in the year 1972, was an autonomous body under ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Govt of India. NYYK has its district offices in more than 623 districts across the country with 50 regional offices and 20 zonal directorates in the country. 
The youth convention enthralled with the declaration of the district Best Youth Club Award 2012-2013, which was awarded to Young Kid’s Club, Tanhai village. The Award carries Rs. 10,000 for the youth club with citation. He also distributed Sports materials to the youth clubs. There were cultural items presentations and displays by various youth clubs including A.F. M. Chingai Ward Club, and Sacrifice Cooperation Club, Honphoi Village.
The programme was chaired by M. Kenlong, NYC, NYK, Mon, while welcome address was delivered given by Chingmei, NYC, NYK Mon and Hamkai NYC, NYK, Mon invoked God’s blessing and Peihwang NYC, NYK, Mon proposed vote of thank.
