Close on the heels of statements published in the media with regard to the ongoing construction of foothill road in Lotha region, Lotha Hoho Dimapur (LHD) has asserted that the joint efforts of the Nagaland Foot Hills Road Construction Committee (NFHRCC) and the Department of Road & Bridges (R&B) “should not be hampered or disturbed in any manner.” This was decided at an emergency meeting of LHD on an on March 8.
In a press release, LHD chairman T.L. Merry, general secretary Renathung Ezung and assistant general secretary, publicity Khyothungo Tungoe said the decision was taken following the “undesirable exposure of dwindling unity and vested interests” as published in the media over the ongoing construction of the foothill road.
LHD said that the foothill road construction work taken up so far deserved “appreciation and support” for having taken “untold hardship to materialize” the long standing
need for an alternative road for travelling convenience and economic growth.
Being aware of the “sincere initiatives” taken up by NFHRCC to overcome multi-faced problems obstructing the construction of the road for decades, LHD office bearers appealed all denizens of Wokha District in particular to shun any form of “recalcitrant attitudes” that could inhibit the progress of the road construction on one hand and tarnishing the image of Kyong/Lotha on the other.
The selfless service of NFHRCC members representing Lotha community has been acknowledged and assured that their security and self respect in every social front would be safeguarded, said LHD.
