Hindi Teachers’ Association (HTA), Longleng Unit has decided to go for a “pen down strike” along with Nagaland SSA Teachers Association (NSSATA) and aggrieved Hindi teachers in Nagaland (2012-13 batch) from Monday (March 10) to March 22.
In a press release, HTA, Longleng Unit president Shumei Antony and general secretary Imsujungba Achy said as per the government of Nagaland notification Vide No. FIN/ROP/VI-PC/1/2008, Nagaland service Rules 2010, dated August 10, 2010, the government had approved the 6th RoP but till now the Hindi teachers of 2012-13 batch were still paid the old 5th RoP of 1999, even after the implementation of 6th RoP since the last two years.
The teachers alleged that they have been made to sign the New Pension Plan of 2010 and issued PRAN Card (Permanent Retirement Account Number) under National Pension Scheme which did not show the account balance. When enquired, the teachers were told that it was due to some technical problems.
The Hindi teachers said that they have not been getting their salaries on time from April 2013 and their salaries have been delayed by three months (December 2013 – February 2014) resulting in “hardship and difficulties.” They also informed that some appointees in the districts have already received the arrears for 2012 & 2013 whereas some were yet to receive the same and wanted to know on what ground they have been left out. The teachers said that the department should adopt strict parameters in implementing the 6th RoP by March 2014 along with “all the increment up to date and pay the salary on time” besides looking into pension plan policy.
