Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is likely to campaign for the party’s Lok Sabha candidate, K.V Pusa in Kohima.
Congress sources said that the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) was awaiting response from the AICC.
Sources however said that since Rahul Gandhi’s poll campaign itinerary was tight, the party has requested the vice president to campaign in Kohima and likely in Dimapur.
The date for Rahul’s campaign in Kohima was not yet fixed, once we get the confirmation, the party would fix the date accordingly, sources added. Rahul Gandhi’s campaign for the party in Northeast would begin from March 18, sources said.
He will start the campaign in Arunachal Pradesh where the state would hold dual elections—Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.
The same day (March 18) Rahul would campaign in Meghalaya. He has chosen Garo Hills considered to be the political bastion of veteran Purno A’gitok Sangma.
He is expected to address a rally at Resubelpara in North Garo Hills district Tuesday in support of 27-year old Congress candidate Daryl William Momin, grandson of founder chief minister of Meghalaya, Williamson Sangma.
In Manipur, Rahul is scheduled to campaign at Kodompokpi Ground which lies in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency and borders the Inner Manipur seat. (More on p-4)
