Dhansiri River Flood Control Board (DRFCB) has objected to the “illegal work, digging” above the Dhansiri River embankment so as to construct the “open septic latrine.”
In a press release issued by DRFCB chairman Hokheto Kiba, vice-chairman P.Hekuto Wotsa and secretary Muhiber Rahaman said that construction of “open septic latrine” at the river bank was “strictly prohibited” as the same would pollute the environment and the river.
The signatories said that the board cannot accept “under whosever supervision/in-charge” such an unwanted works was being allowed to work on the river ban which would damage the embankment.
Stating that such work could be “highly” risky for Urban Haat and Old Dhansiri Bridge during rainy season or flood time, the board has demanded for immediate repair of the damaged embankment.
DRFCB also pointed out that since the Old Dhansiri Bridge was constructed during British period so it needed a strong foundation support to hold it.
