Pungro Area College Students’ Union (PACSU), while expressing anguish over July 1 incident at Jessami where Maj. Athong of GPRN/NSCN was allegedly shot dead by NSCN (IM), said such barbaric and senseless killings amongst Nagas brethren and the subsequent clarifications/ justifications would not bring any peace or solution but only breed hatred amongst Nagas.
It lamented that the incident took place at a crucial time when all peace loving Nagas were putting all efforts to bring all Naga Political Groups (NPGs) under one umbrella. It said such ugly incidents always pose a hindrance to the peace process.
The Union president, Tsapithong has appealed to all the NPGs to shun violence and to strive for peace and reconciliation. The Union has further conveyed its condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
