Fourth group of NEZCC tribal community learning programme consisting of three resource persons and 25 students from the Kuki community successfully completed their training programme July 16.
The programme is being conducted to address the challenges posed by the advent of modernity and the resultant impact created in the society, especially on the urban youth.
The training programme culminated in a simple function at NEZCC Complex Dimapur where the students performed a traditional folk song learnt during the training period and shared their experiences as to how they have benefitted from such a creative activity.
In his brief address, NEZCC director Lipokmar Tzudir said “Our strength lies in our diversity and respect for each other’s culture”, adding that maintaining one’s own cultural identity was of prime importance while customs and practices were inherited from forefathers.
He thanked the resource persons and the Kuki community leaders for their support and cooperation extended in making the training programme success.
Special guest, president, Kuki Inpi, Nagaland, Paolal Hangsing, IAS (Rtd), who also spoke at the programme, said the community learning programme organized by NEZCC was first of its kind in the state, which he termed as “a milestone in the history of Nagaland”. He conveyed gratitude to NEZCC director for providing such a platform benefitting the urban youth to learn and understand various facets of their own priceless culture. Kuki Inpi, Nagaland president later gave away the certificates to the participants.
