Western Yimchungru Hoho (WYH) has said it was “unhappy” with the actions of a mob from Chendang village August 7 damaging several standing crops at Saddle ‘C’ village under Tuensang district.
In a press release, Western Yimchungru Hoho (WYH) secretary info & publicity Mathew K Janger said such action committed by certain group people hurt the sentiments of the Yimchungru people as the incident occurred when Yimchungrus were celebrating “Medumneo” festival in different part of the state.
Further, the hoho described August 7 incident as “murder” as per Naga customary law and urged not to repeat such practices.
If there was any land dispute or boundary issue, Western Yimchungru Hoho (WYH) said the matter should be settled through dialogue rather than flaring up the fear atmosphere in the vicinity.
Meanwhile, the hoho has appealed to the competent authority for settlement of issues between the two neighbouring villages. It also urged the law enforcing agency to immediately arrest those involved in the incident and award befitting punishment as per the law of the land.
