BJP state unit has said it was constrained to react to the “unsubstantiated allegations” leveled by Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) media cell against the party.
BJP state unit president Dr. M.Chuba Ao stated Nagaland earned special category status in funding pattern through a political agreement. Therefore, when it was unilaterally withdrawn by the government of India, it was incumbent upon the government of that day to take Naga public into confidence for wide consultation and debate, said Dr. Chuba.
He pointed out that the Congress government in Nagaland failed to do the same and the withdrawal badly affected the development activities in the state.
The UPA government could not shy away from owning the responsibility of adverse 13th Finance Commission (TFC) award to the state because Union Finance Minister of UPA government was the final authority, said the state BJP unit president.
TFC was greatly responsible for the huge negative Balance in Current Revenue (BCR) which had in turn affected the State’s plan size year after years, he said.
If Nagaland’s deficit of Rs. 1252.45 cr. was due to corruption as alleged by the Congress, then why the UPA government did not take action against the guilty, asked Dr. Chuba.
He also said the CLP has miserably failed to function as an effective opposition.
It is wrong to assume by Congress that being part of DAN-III government, BJP would compromise its principle on corruption, Dr. Chuba asserted.
Before pointing its fingers at BJP, the NPCC would do well to remember that it was not BJP but Congress leaders who had been sharing the booty in CSS like MGNREGS.
He said If NPCC was serious in curbing corruption, it should have the courage to file complaints in appropriate court of law.
NPCC media cell’s ridiculous statement that state BJP unit should convince their Delhi bosses to sanction generous fund for NPF to corrupt more was unbecoming of a responsible party, he said.
Such negative mindset was not only unjustified but also uncalled for. It is unfortunate that NPCC wants to stop flow of generous development funds on whimsical apprehension of corruption, said Dr. Chuba adding that just because the Congress has leveled some corruption charges against the NPF government, the common people of the state should not be made the victims.
