Teenage girl found ‘murdered’

A teenage girl, reportedly aged around 19, who had been reported missing since Thursday was found reportedly “murdered” between Bhandari and Merapani, Wokha district on Friday at around 4 p.m.
According to family sources, the deceased girl, studying in class XI in a school in Bhandari did not returned home from school on Thursday. Her body was found later near a stream between Bhandari and Merapani on Friday, family sources said. The body has been taken to Wokha for postmortem.
DLYF condemns: Dimapur Longsa Youth Forum (DLYF) has strongly condemned the “barbaric and heinous murder” of a teenage girl of Longsa Village at Merapani on September 11.
In a press release, DLYF president M. Zachamo Ezung said the victim, a resident of Merapani area, had gone to school on September 11 and was reported missing. Family, area members and police launched a search operation along the school vicinity and road leading to the school.
However, on September 12, 4 p.m., DLYF said the “deceased was found between Merapani and Bhandari (below the Bhandari Police Check Gate.) at the river/stream site in school uniform”.
Though the motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained, as post-mortem report was awaited, DLYF suspected that the “gruesome murder as pre planned”.
DLYF has urged that state government to “immediately set up a Special investigating Team (SIT) to probe the incident” and to award befitting punishment against those involved at the earliest.
“Failing to probe the murder case may invite unnecessary situation”, for which DLYF said it would not be held responsible.
DLYF appealed all right thinking citizens, students’ organization and public organizations to condemn the unscrupulous act and urged upon responsible organizations to extend all possible co-operation to the investigating agency till the culprit(s) are booked.
Meanwhile, DLYF while expressing profound grief over the untimely demise of the young girl, conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
