Timely action of 18 Assam Rifle personnel saved precious lives October 5 last near Gopibung village, Peren, when a vehicle travelling from Jalukie to New Soget met with an accident.
The vehicle carrying 13 passengers veered off the road and fell into a gorge about 150 feet below the road critically injuring about six passengers.
According to a DIPR report, villagers informed the AR Jawans who were at the nearby vicinity and immediately the jawans reached the spot and retrieved all the passengers trapped in the vehicle (AS-06G-2169). Injured were later taken to PHC Ahthibung for treatment. Locals and civil administration have lauded the timely action of the 18 AR in saving precious lives.
