DAO Kma invites applications from young ‘agri-entrepreneurs’

District Agriculture Office Kohima, Nagaland has invited young “agri- entrepreneurs” having working experience in farm machineries and keen interest to uplift farming community of the district to apply for setting up one Farm Machinery Bank for Custom Hiring (CHC) within Kohima District.
The beneficiary share i.e. 60% of the project cost will deposited to the department which will be released to the beneficiary according to the cost norms. The established farm machinery banks for custom hiring should not be mortgaged or sold before six years from-the date of its establishment.
According to the terms and conditions, the mutual benefit between the farmers and the farm machinery banks stakeholder will be maintained while operating the custom hiring centre. The CHC should have the capacity to cover minimum area of 10 ha/ day and at least 300 ha. in a cropping season. GHC should be set up on specific crop based, cost based and cluster based approach.
Selection of village /town for setting up of custom hiring centres should be on the area where there is low ratio of farm power availability. Any business model can be adopted for expanding the reach of mechanization through custom hiring centres. It would be necessary to maintain, upgrade the CHCs from time to time. Only tested brands from the Farm Machinery Training & Testing Institutes (FMTTIs) of designated Institute from DAC should be used and procurement for machine’s & equipments would be from the approved suppliers/manufactures.
