Vendors get market complex in Chumukedima

A 27 stalls with 5 godown marketing complex for vendors in Chumukedima were inaugurated by the Parliamentary Secretary for Urban Development, Zhaleo Rio this morning.
The two storey marketing complex with a plinth area of 1393.54 sq. ft. has been constructed with fund from Ministry of Urban Housing and Poverty Alleviation, Government of India under 10% lumpsum scheme.
Addressing the inaugural function, Zhaleo Rio desired that the complex should be utilized to its maximum capacity and not merely remained a decorative showpiece. He has urged the stakeholders to encourage young Nagas to take up business enterprise for self sustenance by giving preference in the stall allotment.
He stressed that Naga entrepreneurs should not only get allotment in the complex but also pursue business with all seriousness and prosper in life. He said educated unemployed youth should not only look for white collar job but take up skilled and unskilled job to make themselves economically reliant. He was also not averse to getting assistance from non-Nagas about the trait of business.
He said the government is planning to provide proper infrastructure for the street vendors to enable them run business without hassle in contrast to the present practice which create traffic congestion and hazard to public safety. He has urged the Chumukedima resident to cooperate with the government to enable the latter provide required facilities. He has also urged the resident to inculcate good sanitary practices, adding that it should be the responsibility of every citizen to maintain cleanliness in their surrounding.
He has further appreciated the contractor, Thepfulhoutuo Shüya, who could complete the project within the stipulated time.
Pastor of Chumukedima village Baptist Church, Rev. Lhouzovi-u Shüya said the dedicatory prayer, while the welcome address was delivered by Jont Director of Urban Development, A Nzanbemo Ngullie, a brief report by the Executive Engineer Er. Ketuozo Peseyise and the vote of thanks by Additional Director MAC, Dr. Toshimanen Ozukum.
