District authorities in Tuensang promulgated section 144 Cr PC near Tuensang town in villages affected by Friday’s incidents involving two tribal communities. Official sources in Kohima told Nagaland Post, that the situation was under control and that additional police forces have been rushed to the district. The district authorities have also requested paramilitary forces to be on alert and on standby in case any exigency arose.
According to reports received here, those affected were people from Chingmeilen, Kuthur, Chandang and Saddle villages though there was no report of loss of life. Some houses were  ransacked during the incident, sources said. Section 144 Cr PC was imposed over the entire areas covering the above mentioned villages around Tuensang town.
Thursday’s disturbances were a culmination of earlier incidents between some members of two tribal communities who had made allegations and counter-allegations.
Earlier, the Yimchungrü Tribal Council had alleged that a woman and her teenaged daughter who were reported missing, had been abducted by “some anti-social miscreants”.  Communication with Tuensang was thrown out of gear when mobile network services were down. Efforts to contact the district and police in Tuensang proved futile. Further details of the incident could not be obtained except information from various official sources.
