IWSN, Phek DLSA observe International Women’s Day

Incessant Welfare Society Nagaland (IWSN) has observed the International Women’s Day, in collaboration with the State Women Commission Department by organising a two-day training cutm workshop on Indian style vegetable pickle making on March 6 and 7 at Lerie Panchayat Hall, Kohima. The training was imparted with the aim to create awareness on self reliance.
At the training programme, IWSN president Azungla Imsong, delivered a short speech and emphasized on the importance of women empowerment and encouraged the participants to be self-reliant.
The participants were practically trained by Vitoni. Altogether 42 participants attended the training programme.
Materials and incentives were also given to all the participants. During the interactive session, participants have requested IWSN to connect more people through different programmes. 
In a related programme, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Phek, along with the Chakhesang Mothers’ Association, Phek Area Mothers’ Association and Emmanuel Hospital Association have jointly observed the International Women’s Day on March 8 in the DPDB conference hall. 
Addressing the gathering, DLSA chairman GH Ramlia said women should not be just behind the initiative for their empowerment but should initiate for creating awareness to achieve the principle of women liberation ‘My life, my choice’.
DLSA secretary, Somet C Chang, spoke on the significance of International Women’s Day and women empowerment, while Rukuvolu Vero highlighted on protection of women with reference to Domestic Violence Act 2005.
Meanwhile, the district coordinator EMA, Kevesa, highlighted on the social status of women in the society.
The programme was chaired by CMA president, Zaposhelu Venuh, while the invocation was said by women pastor of Phek Town Baptist Church Moze Kyekha, and the vote of thanks was delivered by PAMA president, Besuvolu Venuh.
