NSCN/GPRN has raised serious concern over the recent spurt of unwanted incidents in Dimapur, while it expressed its willingness to assist the investigation team in the search “for truth and justice” to the whole incident.
NSCN/GPRN through its MIP said a joint council meeting was held on March 12, in which deliberations were made on the current developments with regard to the incident. While unequivocally condemning rape, humiliation, deprivation and exploitation of women and their dignity and rights around the world, it also equally condemned any sort of mob violence.
NSCN/GPRN took serious note of disrespect to the rule of law which were indispensable to the “collective pursuit of peaceful co-existence” and said taking law into one’s own hands and undermining the rationality of investigation in any case was not acceptable which must be put to a “full stop”.
It regretted that some people have a tendency to succumb to mob culture which was detrimental to the image and reputation of a “political Naga” while it is trying its best to prove to the world of its capability of joining the civilised comity of nations.
“Justice must prevail and we ourselves must demonstrate to the world that such barbaric actions by goons and thugs have no social sanctions and must not be allowed in the future,” it said.
It also advised the social and print media to be more responsible while disseminating information and report only verified facts and avoid hearsay information as public opinions are based on such reports.
It also gave a fair caution to those who were trying to make a political mileage out of the sad incident to think twice as it was a question of image and reputation of the Nagas and not the state government that comes and goes.
It urged ever Naga to come together as one mind and forever eradicate the mob culture which is totally foreign to Naga social ethos.
Further, the group said it was prepared and open to assist any investigation team in the search “for truth and justice” to the whole incident, which it said, should have never happen again.
