The last time Madonna performed at an awards show, she took a nasty fall on stage. But on Sunday, the 56-year-old Material Girl put on a more toned down performance at the iHeartRadio Awards in Los Angeles, even getting star support from Taylor Swift who served as her guitarist.
The mother-of-four made sure she didn’t repeat her tumble at the Brit Awards as she sang her latest single Ghost Town sitting on a stool and wearing matching stockings with the 25-year-old songbird.
Madonna donned an eccentric costume for her musical gig dressing in a leather corset over a white collared dress shirt and lace and satin camisole.
She styled her look with her trademark gloves and accessorized with fishnet stockings and knee-high leather boots.
Meanwhile Madge may have met her style match when she was accompanied by Taylor who was dressed in a similar getup also wearing a black corset, stockings and knee-high boots.
The country-pop crossover artist showcased her toned frame in a sleeveless black dress which featured a thigh high slit on the front. She’s known for her electric dance-filled performances at award shows, but this time Madonna opted for a small band instead of her usual backup dancers.
The Rebel Heart artist kicked off her portion of the show sitting on a stool with a single spotlight on her. The first half of her performance she was seated but she preceded to safely rise to her feet to sing the ballad. Madonna even got down on her knees for an added emotional touch.
On February 25, the queen of pop tumbled during a live performance of Living For Love at the Brit Awards at The O2 Arena in London after her dancers yanked at her Armani cape taking her down three stage steps. She said she suffered whiplash immediately after the onstage fall.
‘I attribute a lot of the fact that I came out all right because I’m in good shape,’ she later told the Associated Press about the incident.
Madonna revealed that the designer cape was tied too tightly around her neck also explaining that the costume was originally held together with a magnet.
